Midwives together – for women We invite you to join our woman centred, midwifery focused team at Waikato District Health Board, New Zealand. Midwives have the opportunity to work in a stimulating multidisciplinary team environment that is underpinned by a client mix which offers great complexity and diversity Waikato Hospital, situated in Hamilton city, is a secondary/tertiary hospital and the base for all midwifery referrals in the district. In addition to Waikato hospital there are 11 birthing units (a mixture of private and public funded units) that provide primary maternity services within the region. The regions population is over 340,000 and growing with 3900 births last years at Waikato alone. This is a region that covers a diverse terrain from coastal areas, townships to remote rural areas. We can provide you with a choice of work environments from the busy hospital acute setting to the rural birthing units. We offer opportunities for educational and peer support to prepare you for working in the tertiary setting at Waikato Hospital or at a Health Waikato primary unit.
