Purpose of the Position

Chief Radiographer

The Sonographer is responsible for the effective and efficient provision of ultrasound services to Portland District Health. They are to provide clinical expertise and assist in ensuring best practice in all aspects of the service.
To perform ultrasound examinations and associated duties in accordance with standard ultrasound/radiographic practice, departmental policy and the Code of Ethics of the Australian Institute of Radiography, ASAR, ASA and ASUM.

The hours are negotiable and can be part time or full time, whatever suits you and your personal situation.

Essential Key Selection Criteria

  1. Academic/Specialist/Trades Qualifications/Registrations:
    1. B.App.Sc (Medical Radiations), or appropriate degree
    2. Grad Dip App Sc (Medical Ultrasound) or DMU equivalent
    3. Current registration with ASAR (and AHPRA, if applicable)
  2. Work Experience & Skills:
    1. Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively and work effectively as part ofmultidisciplinary health care team
    2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, verbal and ICT skills
  3. Personal Qualities & Behavioural Traits:
    1. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/carers, staff and management
    2. Ability to provide timely care to patients
    3. Ability to promote cultural diversity and awareness
  4. Workplace Competencies & Recommended Learning:
    1. Capacity to work in accordance with compliance requirements, PDH policies,procedures and direction for example OH&S, Risk Management and QualityImprovement
    2. Demonstrated currency of practice and continued professional development
