Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

The  Hospital Theatre Suite consists of 6 Operating Theatres with a Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and Endoscopy Suite, and delivers on average 43 sessions requiring a general anaesthetic a week.

We are looking for a NZ Registered Anaesthetic Technician, or Registered Nurse Assistant to the Anaesthetist (RNAA), to join the theatre team at Nelson Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE) role. Shifts are rostered and revolving, including evenings, weekends and on-call.

To be considered for these positions you must be a Registered Anaesthetic Technician, with a current APC issued by The Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (MSCNZ), or be eligible for the same. Alternatively you will be Registered Nurse Assistant to the Anaesthetist (RNAA) with a current APC.

You will be a team player who:

  • enjoys keeping up to date with clinical practice
  • has the ability to cope with a high and varied workload, including emergency situations
  • has excellent organisational and time management skills
  • has recent clinical experience with strong observational and crisis management skills
  • has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

For the health and safety of both staff and patients, and in line with the Health Order, all NMH staff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
