About the employer

You will be joining the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) division of New Zealand’s largest integrated health, physical fitness, mental fitness and rehabilitation group, dedicated to providing best-practice health services in NZ to their clients through our top experienced healthcare practitioners.

Our client is regarded as a leading provider of employee assistance programmes in New Zealand. Established in 1989, they deliver workplace support to over 600,000 employees from over 3000 New Zealand businesses covering a wide range of private and public sector organisations.

About the role

You will be a counselling professional providing a confidential service to employees experiencing any personal or work-related difficulties. Working within a focused intervention framework, support is provided to a diverse range of clients with an equally diverse range of presenting issues.

You will spend most of your clinical hours working with individuals, and on occasion couples and families. Delivery is mainly in-person, but can also include phone, video, and e-counselling.

Occasionally, you will be required to provide onsite support at a customer workplace to manage an event disruption and/or provide PFA and trauma support. For those experienced in group facilitation, the opportunity exists to deliver training for the employees of the service’s customers.

This counselling role, whilst based in Wellington, is part of a wider team of counselling professionals working from our network of EAP offices spread throughout NZ.


Essential experience

Minimum 3 years’ counselling experience.
Current registration with a relevant professional body e.g. NZAC, NZCCA, or SWRB
Skills & Knowledge

Who are we looking for

Client-centric focus with sound professional acumen and integrity.
Sound understanding of a range of evidence based therapeutic models e.g. SFT, CBT, ACT
Ability to provide timely trauma response interventions for clients who have experienced a traumatic event in the workplace.
Knowledge of trauma intervention, including individual and group psychological first aid
Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
Competency in using PC Software products and new technologies.
Flexibility to attend onsite incidents as, when, and where required.
