Located next to the beautiful Auckland Domain, National Women’s Health at Auckland DHB is the largest maternity hospital in Australasia, with approximately 7,000 babies born each year. It is a tertiary referral centre whilst also providing maternity care to women in the central Auckland area.

Situated on the 9th floor, there are 14 birthing rooms plus a two bedded area for women requiring complex care, one-on-one care is given to all women in labour and there are an average of 18 births per day. Midwives work in partnership with women and their families to achieve a safe and fulfilling outcome and in accordance with the woman’s birth plan. Labour and Birthing Suite has been purpose built to accommodate privacy and excellent work flows, with up to date facilities such as birth pools in half of the rooms, stunning views, and immediate access to theatres if required. One-on-one care for women with both high and low risk pregnancies/labour/birth is provided. We also provide care for women under the care of private obstetricians
Our Client currently has vacancies for CORE Midwives, to join their wonderful, values driven team. Although this is a core position, all midwives are expected to work across Women’s Health departments in order to meet the demands of the service.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an autonomous, innovative and women focused experienced midwives. Whilst it is important that you work as an integral member of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team, it is also essential that you enjoy working in partnership with women.
We are keen to consider caring midwives who believe the quality of their care is of prime importance. You will need to be motivated, an excellent communicator, have the ability to make clinical decisions and be able to demonstrate professional accountability.
- Two years Midwifery experience, with some recent experience providing intrapartum care.
- Current New Zealand midwifery registration or eligible for registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand
- Midwifery qualification recognised by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand suitable for registration
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate
