Job Description

Our client is part of one of the largest NGOs in NZ and they provide community-based mental health and wellbeing services through the country. Established in 1989 they introduced a new model of care to the mental health sector with their inspirational dream of ‘transforming mental health and addictions through fostering strong, compassionate, self-supporting communities’ and their belief that with the right support, everyone can recover. The Registered Nurse-Team Coach is a full time permanent role based at their respite facility in the Porirua Basin.

At present they have three 4 bedroom houses across central and north Wellington however they are transitioning to two new purpose-built 6 bedroom facilities next year. The clients using these facilities will either be experiencing some distress or illness and our client is able to provide a peaceful retreat in the hope of preventing readmission, or they will be transitioning out of an acute care environment back into the community.

The Team Coach will support a group of 8 dedicated Support Workers and will manage the safety and well-being of the house. We’re seeking a motivating and empowering person who leads by example as they mentor their team to provide a quality service for their clients.

There is some flexibility around your hours however you will be required to do a very occasional on-call rota.


Requirements for this integral leadership role include:

• NZ registration and a current APC
• Eligibility to work in NZ
• A minimum of three years post graduate experience in mental health
• A full drivers license
• Great communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
