NZ Nursing Council announces changes to registration process

We have been advised of upcoming changes to the registration process for internationally qualified nurses applying for registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. From 15 October 2019, the registration process for internationally qualified nurses (except those currently registered in Australia) will move to a two-step process:

Step 1.

Internationally qualified nurses must first apply to CGFNS International Inc, to have their documents verified and authenticated through its Credentials Verification Service.

Step 2.

Internationally qualified nurses will then apply to the Nursing Council for an assessment against the Nursing Council registration standards and make a decision regarding registration.

This change in process will see an increased overall cost for registration due to the addition of the cost of the CGFNS process.  It may possibly add more time to the registration process.  If you are in a position to lodge your application prior to September 30 we would recommend that you try to do so however we appreciate that many candidates may not be able to do so.

To ensure a smooth transition for applicants, the current application process will close from 30 September 2019. If you have any queries regarding the changes please do either of the following:
