Great news regarding English Language Test (ELT) requirements for the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
We were delighted to learn today of a recent change to ELT requirements for some of our overseas’ based nurses. Kate A and Kate N (two of our Tonix team) were especially excited to be able to share this wonderful news in person with some of the amazing candidates who they were meeting in Singapore.
International nurses applying for registration in NZ may now request an waiver of language testing if:
- Your nursing education was conducted in English in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Ireland, Canada, or the United States of America;
- You have current registration in the UK, Singapore, Ireland, Canada or the USA.
You may also be considered for a waiver if:
- You can provide evidence of significant recent experience working in a nursing role in an English-speaking clinical setting and/or you have completed postgraduate education in English. These are assessed on an individual basis.
As part of your request to CGFNS to have your credentials verified you will be able to request a waiver, and the Council will then make a decision.
