Our first post-Covid candidate to arrive from the UK

Tonix recently recruited Suzie, an ODP from Wales. Our first arrival from the UK since NZ’s severe Covid-19 lockdown restrictions have begun to ease, she is a true trailblazer! Here is her message to us from her quarantine hotel room:

“After meeting my partner Beau in the UK, I knew I would always want to go back to New Zealand with him. I visited on holiday and fell in love with Mount Maunganui, Bay Of Plenty. The way of life there was so different, the weather, the people, and I could work there which was great!

Moving during a global pandemic was not the easiest of things. I went through five different flights as some had been cancelled and others I had got to the airport and not had the right documentation. However on my third try at the airport I was able to fly, it was such relief! The journey here was not too bad, there was a long stop-over in Melbourne which we were put into a lovely hotel and given food too – so I couldn’t complain. When I finally arrived Auckland I knew all of the preparing and setbacks had been worth it!

I have a lovely room in isolation and a little balcony which overlooks a few shops, I can always hear the birds tweeting! The jet lag hasn’t been too bad, mostly tiredness, waking up early and going to sleep early. I have been keeping myself busy working out in my room and going to walks in the designated outside walking area of our hotel.

I am counting down the days to be able to see my partner after a long three months!”
